DAVIE, Fla. -- Miami Dolphins coach Cam Cameron won't talk about his team's new executive vice president of football operations, or speak his name around reporters.

During his press conference Monday, Cameron carefully danced around reporters' inquiries about Bill Parcells, who signed a four-year contract with the 1-14 Dolphins last week. He tiptoed through several questions about Miami's latest hire without ever mentioning Parcells by name.

"He and I haven't talked, strictly that," Cameron said. "It's not that I'm not acknowledging something. It's just the fact that he and I will sit down one on one. He and I haven't talked."

But that was another subject Cameron wouldn't touch. He didn't want to answer questions about Parcells because he hadn't spoken with him yet, but also did not want discuss any plans to talk to Parcells, who is expected to arrive in South Florida this week.

"Nothing has changed," Cameron said. "If in fact something needs to be updated, I will update you guys."

Cameron also avoided a question about his thoughts on the two-time Super Bowl champion coach's accomplishments.

"I think there's going to be an appropriate time to do that," Cameron said, "because you guys know where we're at right now. We're looking at the Cincinnati Bengals."

Miami's remaining game against the Bengals this Sunday might be Cameron's last as Dolphins head coach. The fate of the first-year coach is in the hands of Parcells.

In an interview aired on ESPN on Monday night, Parcells said he would soon fly down to Miami and meet Dolphins personnel. Parcells, employed as an ESPN analyst, said he wasn't sure how long it would take to evaluate Cameron and general manager Randy Mueller.

"I'm just going to go down there and take a look and talk to both of those fellas, and see what they have to say," he said.

Parcells, who said he watched New England's 28-7 win over the Miami on Sunday, said he didn't want to make a hasty coaching decision.

"I just want to be right about it," Parcells said.

Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga has given Parcells what he called "ultimate responsibility." That includes the ability to hire and fire.

Cameron tried to minimize distractions of the high-profile hire, and insisted he and the team remained focused on their next game.

"Got the Bengals this weekend, right?" said Cameron, when asked if he had a Christmas wish. "That'd do it."
