NEW YORK - Lidia Bastianich is an award-winning chef, restaurateur, TV host and author. Now she can add another feather to her cap: grand marshal of New York City's Columbus Day Parade. The parade, organized by the Columbus Citizens Foundation, will be held Monday. Foundation President Louis Tallarini says Bastianich is an ideal grand marshal because of her "great love of Italian cuisine and culture ... her passion for her art, for life and for the people of Italy ... and of her adopted land of America." In accepting the invitation, Bastianich who owns four upscale restaurants including Felidia said that as an Italian immigrant, she is deeply grateful for the opportunities she's received in her adopted country. ___ On the Net: Columbus Citizens Foundation: http://www.columbuscitizensfd.org.
