HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) -- Sikorsky Aircraft, a unit of United Technologies Corp., said Wednesday it signed a five-year, $7.4 billion deal with the U.S. government to deliver 537 Black Hawk helicopters for the Army and Navy. The deal is the seventh contract between Stratford, Conn.-based Sikorsky and the U.S. government, and includes an option to extend the deal for an additional 263 aircraft, spares, and kits, which could bring the total value of the contract to $11.6 billion. Deliveries of the aircraft are scheduled to be made from 2007 to 2012. Shares of United Technologies added 36 cents to close at $76.78.
