STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) -- Defense contractor General Dynamics said Tuesday it received a U.S. Army contract worth $49 million to provide technical support for the Abrams tank. The contract covers engineering studies to determine ways to improve the tanks and replace obsolete parts. Work is expected to be performed by General Dynamics Land Systems employees in Sterling Heights, Mich. through the end of 2011. Shares of Falls Church, Va.-based General Dynamics fell 41 cents to $93.59 in midday trading.
