WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AP) -- AK Steel Holding Corp. said Monday it will increase spot market prices for its carbon steel products by $30 per ton, citing higher demand and costs. The increase will be effective for all new orders accepted for shipment on Jan. 1 and later, the company said. AK Steel said the increase is in response to increased demand for carbon steel products, as well as the need to recover higher costs for steelmaking inputs. The company also said Monday that it plans to raise stainless-steel prices effective Nov. 12 to offset higher costs for raw materials and energy. AK Steel shares fell 57 cents to $47.31 in morning trading.
