SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- Kia Motors Corp., South Korea's second-largest automaker, said Friday that its third-quarter net loss widened from the year before amid a decline in sales. Kia Motors said it lost 55.1 billion won ($60.2 million) in the three months ended Sept. 30. Kia posted a net loss of 43.9 billion won a year earlier. Sales during the quarter fell 6.7 percent to 3.27 trillion won ($3.57 billion) from 3.5 trillion won a year earlier. Shares in Kia, which released earnings after the stock market opened, fell 5.7 percent to 10,750 won ($12) in midday trading. Kia is an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Co.
