Razor Recalls About 20,000 Electric Scooters Sold at Pep Boys, on Internet Sites

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Razor USA LLC. on Friday recalled about 20,000 electric scooters sold at Pep Boys -- Manny Moe & Jack stores and on various Internet sites because the handlebar can detach and cause the rider to fall.

Razor has received 25 reports of welds breaking on the handlebars of E300 Electric Scooters, including three reports of minor injuries, such as scrapes and bruises.

The recalled scooters are blue or silver and include barcodes beginning in 100620-03 through 09. The products were sold between January and October 2006 for between $190 and $230, and were made in China.
