LONDON (AP) -- The U.S. dollar was higher against most other major currencies in European trading Friday morning. Gold also was up. The euro traded at $1.4110, down from $1.4117 late Thursday in New York. Other dollar rates: --116.56 Japanese yen, up from 116.51 --1.1778 Swiss francs, up from 1.1759 --0.9960 Canadian dollars, down from 0.9971 The British pound was quoted at $2.0358, down from $2.0375. Gold traded in London at $735.85 per troy ounce, up from $730.90 late Thursday. In Zurich, gold traded at $733.75 bid per troy ounce, up from $730.05. Silver opened in London at $13.36, up from $13.31.
