NEW YORK (AP) -- Symyx Technologies Inc. will lay off about 124 employees, including some from recently-acquired MDL Group Cos., the lab research and technology company said in an SEC filing. In a Form 8-K Symyx filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission Thursday, the company said that on Tuesday it committed to a restructuring plan under which it will eliminate about 104 posts in the United States and about 20 elsewhere. The company expects to finish its restructuring plan by the end of its fiscal fourth quarter, and expects to post a restructuring charge in its fourth quarter for severance and facilities costs. Symyx is not yet sure what the charges will be.
