SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (AP) -- Biotechnology company Abraxis BioScience Inc. said Friday its hospital-based unit Abraxis Pharmaceutical Products received Food and Drug Administration approval for generic Camptosar. The injectible drug, also called irinotecan hydrochloride, is made by Pfizer Inc. and is a chemotherapy treatment for cancer of the large intestine and rectum. The FDA approval is tentative and Abraxis said it will start marketing the generic version when Pfizer's patent expires in February. Shares of Abraxis BioScience closed at $23.86 and shares of Pfizer closed at $25.30 Thursday.
