SAN DIEGO, Calif. (AP) -- PriceSmart Inc., which owns and operates membership shopping warehouse clubs in Central America and the Caribbean, on Friday said its same-store sales jumped 24.1 percent in September. Same-store sales, or sales at stores open at least a year, is a key indicator of retailer performance since it measures growth at existing stores rather than newly opened ones. PriceSmart said net sales last month grew 25.2 percent to $78.1 million, compared with the year-ago period. PriceSmart shares rose 24 cents to $24.25 in premarket trading.
