NEW YORK (AP) -- The Dow Jones industrial average inched higher at midday Thursday, with shares of drug maker Pfizer Inc. recording the largest gain. The index added 2.12 to 13,970.17, as 20 of the 30 Dow stocks moved up. Pfizer shares rose 37 cents to $25.44. Shares of Microsoft Corp. gained 24 cents, to $29.69. The company said Thursday that its game "Halo 3" topped $300 million in sales in its first week, which also drove up sales of Microsoft's Xbox 360 console system. Banking company Citigroup Inc. picked up 40 cents to $48.29. On the losing side, shares of heavy equipment maker Caterpillar Inc. slipped 97 cents to $77.59. Aluminum maker Alcoa Inc. saw its stock drop 56 cents to $37.08. Exxon Mobil Corp. declined 90 cents to $90.43.
