BREA, Calif. (AP) -- American Suzuki Motor Corp. said Tuesday U.S. sales fell in September as demand waned for the Grand Vitara and Forenza models. Total U.S. sales fell 4 percent to 7,653 vehicles, compared with 7,940 vehicles sold in the same month last year. Adjusted to reflect one less selling day this year, sales declined a more modest 0.2 percent. Sales of the compact sports utility vehicle model Grand Vitara fell 28 percent to 1,578 vehicles for the month, while sales of the Forenza and its sister sedan, the Reno, fell 22 percent to 3,330 vehicles. So far this year, sales have risen 1 percent to 82,000 vehicles, compared with 81,328 sold in the same period last year.
