NEW YORK (AP) -- Stocks that were moving substantially or trading heavily Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market: NYSE Citigroup Inc., up 6 cents at $47.78. The nation's largest financial services company is buying the nearly one-third share of Nikko Cordial Corp. it does not already own for about $4.6 billion. Citi has a 68 percent stake in Nikko, Japan's third-largest brokerage. Exxon Mobil Corp., down $2.18 at $91.77. The oil company fell as crude prices continued to slide, and was the biggest drag on the Dow Jones industrial average. Commerce Bancorp Inc., down 38 cents to $39.23; Toronto-Dominion Bank, down $4.71 at $72.23. TD Bank Financial Group agreed to buy Commerce Bancorp in a cash-and-stock deal valued at $8.5 billion. Nasdaq Palm Inc., down 49 cents at $15.51. The maker of the Treo smart phone reported late Monday it swung to a loss in the fiscal first quarter, and forecast weaker-than-expected results for the current quarter. ViaCell Inc., up $2.45 at $7.22; PerkinElmer Inc., down $1.01 at $28.85. Life science tools maker PerkinElmer Inc. said it will purchase the biotechnology company for $300 million. Baidu.com Inc., up $32.59 at $317.40. Shares of the Chinese search engine operator spiked after JPMorgan initiated coverage with an "Overweight" rating.
