SAN DIMAS, Calif. (AP) -- Water and electric utility American States Water Co. said Monday one of its subsidiaries has agreed to operate and maintain the water and wastewater systems at Fort Jackson, S.C., for $143 million. The contract with the subsidiary, American States Utility Services Inc., lasts over a 50-year period. A subsidiary of American States Utility Services, Palmetto State Utility Services Inc., will provide all labor, management, supervision, permits, equipment and other materials needed for the project. American States Water shares fell 17 cents to close at $40.04.
