NEW YORK (AP) -- Marsh & McLennan Cos., one of the world's largest insurance brokers, said Friday Brian M. Storms is stepping down as head of its insurance broking unit, Marsh Inc., effective immediately, as the company seeks to someone with different skills to lead the division. The company said it has already begun to search for a successor. Michael G. Cherkasky, president and chief executive officer of MMC, will serve as acting CEO of Marsh Inc. "Brian has made important contributions to Marsh's recovery over the past two years," Cherkasky said in a statement. "Our long-term strategy is sound and a solid foundation has been built. That said, we now need a different set of leadership and operational skills to complete the successful transformation of Marsh."
