NEW YORK (AP) -- The Nasdaq 100 finished lower on Wednesday, pulled down by shares of chipmaker Lam Research Corp. The stock shed $2.71, or 5.1 percent, to $50.03, despite comment from a JPMorgan analyst who called the company a "top pick for superior growth." SanDisk Corp. declined $2.49, or 4.6 percent, to $51.75, after an analyst said a recent lower contract price is a modest near-term negative. And Nvidia Corp. lost $1.36, or 3.9 percent, to $33.22. The Nasdaq 100, which includes 100 of the largest nonfinancial securities listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market, lost 0.02 points to 1,988.96. The broader Nasdaq composite shed 5.40 points to 2,592.07. On the rising side, Wynn Resorts Ltd. shares added $5.86, or 4.5 percent, to $137.56. A Bear Stearns analyst said that according to the Nevada Gaming Commission, Las Vegas Strip gaming revenue rose 14.1 percent to $606.8 million in July. And XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc., which is seeking to combine with its rival, Sirius Satellite Radio, added 59 cents, or 4.3 percent, to $14.21. Cowen and Co. analyst Thomas Watts, in a client note, said the deal might receive Federal Communications Commission approval as early as October. Sirius shares rose 11 cents, or 3.3 percent, to $3.42.
