NEW YORK (AP) -- The Nasdaq 100 rose Tuesday, boosted by LM Ericsson Telephone Co.'s expectations of market growth. The Nasdaq 100, which includes 100 of the largest nonfinancial securities listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market, rose 15.33 points to 1,975.53 in midday trading. The broader Nasdaq composite added 20.22 points to 2,579.33. LM Ericsson shares jumped $1.91, or 5.3 percent, to $38.16. The world's largest maker of wireless networks reaffirmed its expectation that the GSM and WCDMA mobile handset market will continue to show mid-single digit growth in 2007. eBay Inc. shares advanced $1.28, or 3.7 percent, to $36.27. A JPMorgan Securities Inc. analyst said the Web auctioneer's new listings are up 6.1 percent year-over-year. Sun Microsystems Inc. shares added 17 cents, or 3.2 percent, to $5.56. The company announced new software designed to manage virtual desktops. On the declining side, Dentsply International Inc. shares lost $1.15, or 2.8 percent, to $40.03. The dental products maker on Wednesday hosts an investor day. Lamar Advertising Co. shares gave up $1.35, or 2.6 percent, to $49.78. Liberty Global Inc. shares fell 99 cents, or 2.4 percent, to $40.52.
