NEW YORK (AP) -- Defense conglomerate L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. said Tuesday its Cincinnati Electronics subsidiary has received a $44 million contract from the U.S. Marine Corps for thermal sight systems, which provide visibility at night and in bad weather or battlefield conditions. The systems will be attached to military amphibious assault vehicles. The contract is expected to be completed in July 2009. If the Marine Corps awards additional follow-on contracts, the contract value would rise to $49 million. L-3 shares rose $1.40 to $98.56 in morning trading.
