PROVO, Utah (AP) -- The Micron Technology Foundation is giving $320,000 to Brigham Young University for microelectronics research and undergraduate training.

The money will be paid to BYU in $80,000 installments over the next four years.

BYU professor Aaron Hawkins says the donation from Micron is an investment in the school's mentoring program in microelectronics and its students.

The money will help maintain a laboratory and the 4-year-old undergraduate program known as Immerse for Intensive Mentoring Micro-Electronics Research for Students in Engineering, or Immerse.

Micron executive Scott DeBoer says the company is pleased to support BYU's efforts to increase student interest and research in microelectronics.
