S&P Will Add Omnicell to SmallCap 600 Index, Replacing Chaparral Steel

NEW YORK (AP) -- Standard & Poor's said Monday Omnicell Inc. will replace Chaparral Steel Co. in the S&P SmallCap 600 on a date to be determined.

Steel producer Chaparral Steel, based in Midlothian, Texas, is being acquired by Gerdau AmeriSteel Corp. in a deal that is pending final approval.

Mountain View, Calif.-based Omnicell, a provider of patient safety technology, will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Health Care Technology Sub-Industry index.

Shares of Omnicell rose 86 cents, or 3.3 percent, to $26.79 in aftermarket activity, During regular trading earlier, the stock added $1.87, or 7.8 percent, to $25.93.
