DALLAS (AP) -- Blockbuster Inc. said Monday its chief operating officer will leave at the end of September and announced two former 7-Eleven Inc. executives will join the movie rental company's management. Nick Shepherd, the company's senior executive vice president and chief operating officer, joined Blockbuster in 1995 as managing director of its business in the United Kingdom. "The board of directors and I greatly appreciate the leadership Nick has provided to the company and the major role he has played in helping us lay the foundation for the transformation of Blockbuster from a video retailer into a company that provides completely convenient access to media entertainment," said Jim Keyes, Blockbuster chairman and chief executive. Blockbuster also said Monday it appointed Keith Morrow as chief information officer and David Podeschi as senior vice president of merchandising, distribution and logistics. Both recently held similar positions at 7-Eleven, where Keyes was president and chief executive until the convenience store chain was sold in 2005. Keyes was named Blockbuster's CEO in July.
